I am a self help book lover and what I love about this one is, it is so easy to pick up read something, it makes sense. I have read many books on mental health but the author is so genuine and transparent, it was truly a joyful reflection experience for me. It helped me make an important life decision because the author spoke about making his own decisions to protect his mental health.

It’s full of practical advice and activities, it’s evidenced based and Alex shares extremely relatable scenarios from his own experiences, that remind you that you are absolutely not alone.

I have read a lot of self-help books to help me with my anxiety, but this book is different in the most helpful way. It was great to go over the basics again but also allow myself some time to reflect about my habits and attitudes. It’s good to read also if you know someone who is struggling as it can give you more of an insight to how they are feeling.

Mental wellbeing is something we all have to look after, develop and nourish even when feeling good! This is a well written book which has an abundance of practical examples and tools to help you understand and improve your mental health. Since 2020 he has amassed more than seven million followers across his channels with his refreshingly frank medical myth-busting and health-advice videos which combine education, entertainment, and generous servings of dark humor.

He is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times and appears regularly on PBS NewsHour and Meet the Press. In addition to being a regular advocate of health promotion on behalf of the NHS and the UK government, he has also worked closely with the UN, the World Health Organization, and the British Red Cross in an ambassadorial capacity. There are some bits that I think are a bit fluffy and that I know wouldn't help with my anxiety, but you can certainly take what you need from this book.
